MAST Site Under Maintenance

  • Join the MAST Discussion List!

    Our new Discussion List can be used to share information, search technical issues, shop and current events with all who join. When an email is sent to the discussion list, it is forwarded to all members subscribed to the list. Replies to discussion list e-mails are currently set to go back to the mail list, so that all recipients can see responses. We will leave this as the default setting for now. All first time posts will be moderated to eliminate Spam from being broadcasted to the list. This means that one of the administrators must approve the posting before the rest of the list sees the message. The subscriptions are self managed, so you can subscribe, edit, and unsubscribe from the list without assistance from an administrator or moderator. Click here to subscribe!

  • Mast Meetings June 2011

    Two meetings took place in the month of June 2011. The Gulfport meeting was held at the Gulf Regional Planning Commission office (GRPC) and the Jackson meeting took place at the Central Mississippi Planning and Development office (CMPDD).

    Gulfport Meeting Notes

    • Charles Meador of the USM Marine Science department presented regarding Marine Science and GIS.
    • Scott Delano, cheap Mississippi representative for district 117, troche discussed data needs and GIS in the state.
    • An announcement was made to the group regarding the need for volunteers for committees.

    Jackson Meeting Notes

    • Dr. David Holt presented regarding a data collection project in Long Beach, MS. The project involved the collection of address points, building foot prints and data related to the city cemetery layout.
    • New data sets have been uploaded to the state GIS data warehouse including street centerlines for many delta counties.

    Charles Meador presented regarding Marine Science and GIS.

  • SpaceStars Interns

    SpaceStars is a program geared toward training high school students for GIS employment. The local chapter at Gulfport High School is in search of intern opportunities for their students this summer. Most students hold certificates backed by an ESRI partner, prostate Digital Quest, buy that ensures a minimum of technician level training in GIS and ESRI software. If you need any digitizing or similar work done and have an opening for an intern, please contact Scott Pfaff at scott.pfaff@gulfportschools.org .

  • Mast Meeting 2/12/11

    The Mississippi Association for Spatial Technologies will hold a meeting in the SMPDD Conference room. The presenter for this meeting will be Scott Samson. His presentation will be on the subject of gvSIG, sickness which is a free open source GIS software package. Lunch will be provided.     MAST will hold a December meeting in the MARIS Technical Center Conference room in Jackson at 12:30 PM, case Friday, healing December 17, 2010. Currently there is no presentation scheduled and the meeting will involve networking and an open round table discussion. Lunch will be provided, so please RSVP.   • New Mast Website Launch!

    On October 28th, ask 2010 mastgis.org received a new look. Many members may remember the Adobe Flash site which was previously used by MAST. The new site is a PHP / WordPress 3.0 site based on industry standard content management practices. This means that content such as a pages and news posts can be generated by approved users using a simple interface. Please visit the site often for updates. 🙂
