  • August 2023 Meeting/MSSCAUG Inaugural User Group Meeting

    The August General Meeting is slated to be in the Jackson area. During that same week, SCAUG will be hosting their first ever MSSCAUG Annual User Group Meeting. Since these events are both set to be in the same area and have a wide overlap in interested parties, we will be combining them.

    The MSSCAUG Annual User Group Meeting will be on Wednesday, 9 August 2023 from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.It will take place at the MS 811 building at 200 Country Place ParkwayPearl, MS 39208

    Note: Please park in the rear of the building

    While attendance is free, it is requested that you register in advance to help ensure enough food and seats are available. You may register by scanning the QR code in the flyer attached to this e-mail, or by going to https://www.scaug.org/event-5321886.

    MAST will make our Board announcements during the lunch break of the conference.

  • Registration Open for Mississippi Geospatial Conference 2023!

    Greetings, spatialists!

    The time has come again for the annual Mississippi Geospatial Conference!

    This year, the conference will be held on Thursday, October 12th and Friday, October 13th in Long Beach, Mississippi.

    If you would like to register, you can do so on the conference registration page.

    If you would like to present at the conference, you may submit the title and a brief abstract of your presentation here. Please note, you do not necessarily need to have your presentation complete at the time of submission; the title and abstract are sufficient for consideration.

    As a reminder, students who register are also eligible for the Mike Miller Memorial Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to the winners of the student poster competition. Students who wish to present their research are invited to do so as well, but entering the poster competition is a requirement to be eligible for the scholarship.

    This year, Board Elections will be held for the offices of Secretary and Treasurer. To nominate someone, e-mail leadership@mastgis.org, and we will add them to the ballot. Nominations will be closed at 5PM CST on Friday, October 6th.

  • December Announcement

    Greetings, Spatialists –

    As the year comes to a close, we wanted to reach out and update you on some news.

    The Mississippi GIS Council Meeting is working with the state to establish a 911 toolkit for four-point addressing. This needs to be done by July. If you would like more information or to share some thoughts, please reach out to Jim Steil at jsteil@ihl.state.ms.us.

    Our next general meeting will be Friday, February 10th. We will announce the location and provide an agenda for the meeting in late January. If you would like to present some of your work in a brief presentation, please reach out to us at leadership@mastgis.org.

    Finally, MAST would like to congratulate any and all December graduates who will now be entering the GIS field. Best of luck on this new chapter of your journey.

  • Conference Recap and December Meeting Announcement

    Hello, Spatialists –

    Thanks to your help, the tenth annual Mississippi Geospatial Conference was a success! We had over 130 attendees and six different states represented. We appreciate those of you who filled out the post-conference surveys and will use that input as we continue to improve and grow the conference.

    The December 2022 meeting has been cancelled. In it’s place, we will be sending out a newsletter with any updates or news. If you have something you’d like to share, please e-mail Courtney Menikheim (cmenikheim@geo-jobe.com), and we’ll include it in the December newsletter.
