  • Registration Open for Mississippi Geospatial Conference 2023!

    Greetings, spatialists!

    The time has come again for the annual Mississippi Geospatial Conference!

    This year, the conference will be held on Thursday, October 12th and Friday, October 13th in Long Beach, Mississippi.

    If you would like to register, you can do so on the conference registration page.

    If you would like to present at the conference, you may submit the title and a brief abstract of your presentation here. Please note, you do not necessarily need to have your presentation complete at the time of submission; the title and abstract are sufficient for consideration.

    As a reminder, students who register are also eligible for the Mike Miller Memorial Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to the winners of the student poster competition. Students who wish to present their research are invited to do so as well, but entering the poster competition is a requirement to be eligible for the scholarship.

    This year, Board Elections will be held for the offices of Secretary and Treasurer. To nominate someone, e-mail leadership@mastgis.org, and we will add them to the ballot. Nominations will be closed at 5PM CST on Friday, October 6th.

    Know someone who may be interested? Feel free to invite them! MAST is a community, and we go through word-of-mouth.

  • December Announcement

    Greetings, Spatialists –

    As the year comes to a close, we wanted to reach out and update you on some news.

    The Mississippi GIS Council Meeting is working with the state to establish a 911 toolkit for four-point addressing. This needs to be done by July. If you would like more information or to share some thoughts, please reach out to Jim Steil at jsteil@ihl.state.ms.us.

    Our next general meeting will be Friday, February 10th. We will announce the location and provide an agenda for the meeting in late January. If you would like to present some of your work in a brief presentation, please reach out to us at leadership@mastgis.org.

    Finally, MAST would like to congratulate any and all December graduates who will now be entering the GIS field. Best of luck on this new chapter of your journey.

  • Mississippi Geospatial Conference 2020

    Greetings, All –

    The time has come again for the Mississippi Geospatial Conference. This year will be a bit different, as the conference will be held virtually as opposed to in-person. Here’s what you’ll need to know:

    Who: Geospatial professionals, vendors, students, and enthusiasts. Come one, come all!
    What: Gather together to discuss research, updates, best practices, new technology, and more, all with a geospatial focus.
    When: October 15th and 16th
    Where: Virtual! 🙂

    Why: The MGC serves to connect geospatial professionals and interested parties across Mississippi and into the surrounding areas. This conference is our annual gathering to share our work with each other, connect with new individuals interested in the field, and discuss research, best practices, and any upcoming news.

    Additional Information for Students:

    • College and High School students interested in attending the conference are encouraged to contact Dr. David Holt about potentially having their registration covered.
